Inclement Weather Policy

Services will be canceled when:

1) Local authorities declare a state of emergency (such as an ice storm, blizzard or extreme freezing temperatures), then worship service, committee meetings, after-school activities and/or other church events will be canceled for the duration of the emergency.

2) Any time Mason Public schools are closed because of a weather issue, then youth activities, midday prayer service, and the fellowship dinner will be canceled. Other regularly scheduled activities (choir rehearsal, committee meetings, etc.) will be held or not at the discretion of the person in charge of the activity (choir director or committee chair, as appropriate).

3) The decision to cancel services or other church-wide activities (assuming points 1 and 2 above do not apply) will rest with the Pastor in charge for the week. If no Pastor can be reached, Clerk of Session will make the decision, after checking availability of the Choir Director, accompanist/organist and Sexton.

4) Notification of congregation in the event of cancellation of services or other church-wide activities: It is the intent to utilize the Master Database, once it is converted to the online version, to directly send emails to all. If this functionality turns out not to be satisfactory, the notification method will need to be revisited. It is understood that a few phone calls might need to be made to those without access to email.
Whenever safe travel is questionable due to weather or road conditions, use your best judgment. Your personal safety is key, regardless of the church activities calendar.
