Holy Week Services

Every year we journey with Jesus to the cross and the empty tomb through the dramatic events of Holy Week.  Childcare is available at each of our four services.

The journey begins on Palm Sunday, as Jesus arrives in Jerusalem to jubilant shouts of "Hosanna!", as the crowd lays palm branches before him.  Worship begins at 10:00am.

The journey continues on Maundy Thursday, when Jesus shares a last meal with his disciples, prays in the Garden of Gethsemane, and is betrayed by one of his own hand-picked disciples.  He is handed over to the Roman authorities, who interrogate him, while Peter - the "rock" on whom the the church is built - denies three times that he ever knew Jesus.  Worship, which begins at 7:00pm, includes a celebration of the Lord's Supper.

The journey continues on Good Friday, as we retell the story of how Jesus was beaten, mocked, and nailed to a cross, like a lamb led to the slaughter.  This is the most important day in the entire church year, as it is the day our salvation was won and our sins were forgiven.  Worship begins at noon.

The last stop is Easter Sunday, as we celebrate with the women who arrived at the tomb to discover that the stone has been rolled away, and Jesus has been raised from the dead.  Death could not hold him; God's victory has been won!  Worship begins at 10:00am.

Join us this year as we once again journey with Jesus to the cross, the tomb ... and beyond.
