Getting To Know Deb Melse
Deb is one of four siblings and has lived in the Lansing area all her life, graduating from Lansing Everett High School. Upon graduation, she attended Lansing Community College, earning her Associate Degree in Nursing and has been employed at Sparrow Health Systems as a Labor and Delivery Nurse for 20 years.
Her family includes 3 children—Corey, a firefighter/paramedic in Holt and recently married to Meagan, an ER Tech at Sparrow Health Systems; Nicole, accepted in the Nursing program at Lansing Community College; and Monica, a Firefighter in Grand Ledge.
Deb grew up at Lansing First Presbyterian where she sang in multiple choirs, beginning with Children’s through Adult, and has served as a Deacon. She is currently a member of First Presbyterian Church in Holt, and for nine years was Chancel Choir Director and also organized and directed orchestra and ensembles. The Youth Choir started under her leadership. She has studied voice under the direction of experienced vocal instructors and sings soprano in the well known Steiner Chorale. Deb, along with her daughter, Nicole, have recently recorded with Silva Screen Productions from the United Kingdom. She continues her music and directing education by attending classes and conferences.
Deb married Paul Melse on September 17, 2016. Besides her family and music, she enjoys camping when she has time and plays volleyball in a recreation league.
